Updating your wardrobe does not have to mean spending more than you can afford. If you are not having fun and your personal funds are suffering at the same time, there is no point in doing it. The below tips should provide help to get you on your way.

1. Clothes swap – Before you go online or head to the local clothing store, make sure that you check with the people that you know first. Depending on the time of the year, they could be looking to dispose of excess clothes to make room for replacements; before they put them into a donation bag or simply throw them out, let them know that you are interested in what they have. Do not bother with this if you do not like their style, however, or their size greatly differs from your own. Unless you possess sewing skills, there will not be much that you can do with them.

2. Shop off season – You can also save money on your wardrobe by shopping out of season. For example, during the winter you could look for summer clothing, and vice versa. Stores will be looking to get rid of their extra stock, and thus they will have sales to lure shoppers. Never buy something simply because it is cheap. If you do not like it, the entire point of this exercise is lost. Keep in mind that you are supposed to be enjoying yourself. If there is no joy in the shopping, there is no reason to do it. Brands such as Supre are more likely to have sales on a frequent basis.

3. Shop online – Many online retailers have great sales on all the time, often with free delivery. So if you want to save time and money, shopping online from the boutiques of your favourite brands is a great way to update your style.

As you shop for your new clothing and accessories, remember that it is never a good idea to spend over your budget. You could put yourself in serious financial trouble, something that could take you years to recover from. This does not have to mean buying clothes that you find ugly and unfashionable, however. By looking over the above tips, you can work with your budget and get the wardrobe you have always wanted.

For all your shopping and gift needs, shop online. Most of your favourite Australian and international brands and retailers now have online boutiques for you to browse and buy accessories and clothing with just a few easy clicks.
